Our mission is to uplift, empower, inspire, and educate through dance and music performances, workshops, and events that blend the vernacular, traditional, and classical in an authentic contemporary perspective featuring live music and thought provoking choreography rooted in historical and socially relevant themes.

David Alston, Musical Director
David Alston, a native of Durham, North Carolina is an accomplished musician specializing in World and Classical Percussion and is also a Teaching Artist, and Composer. David studied Percussion and Cello at Durham School of the Arts and North Carolina Central University. David has toured with The African American Dance Ensemble and Urban Bush Women. He has traveled to Hong Kong/Macau China, Tokyo, Japan, and Toronto, Canada. David has taught Percussion at Future Leader's Institute, and has been a teaching artist with Bronx Children's Museum, Ethical Culture Fieldston, and Young Audiences New York. He is currently the Musical Director of VashtiDance Theater and a Musician for the Ailey School and Alvin Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs.

Fatima Logan-Alston, a native of Durham, NC, is a dancer, choreographer, and educator. Fatima received her BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA. She also earned a Teaching Artist Certification from the Teacher’s College at Columbia University and a Masters in Liberal Arts from SUNY Old Westbury. Fatima has performed internationally with Forces of Nature Dance Theater, the African-American Dance Ensemble, and her own company VashtiDance Theater. Fatima has been in residence at Long Island University Post, Gibney Dance, and Hostos Community College with VashtiDance Theater through the CUNY Dance Initiative. She has been a Guest Teacher and Presenter at the University of Iowa, Hunter, Barnard, and Queens Colleges.
